Delightful Daisy Mother's Day card

Delightfuldaisymothersday

This card uses several techniques and dies.

I started with a card base of Whisper White thick cardstock cut to 4.25 x 11 and scored at 5.5.

Next I cut off part of the top edge with the scallop die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. I then took pieces of night of navy and daffodil delight cardstock cut 4.25 x 5 and matched up how the scallop die was cut on the white and cut both of those together. I adhered each layer separately, moving them out so that they show a colorful scallop.

Next I cut a piece of the navy daisy stripe paper from the Delightful Daisy Designer paper 1 x 4.25. (You can cut it just a tad bigger and then trim after it is adhered). I wrapped a piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4" Double Stitched Ribbon around that piece of DSP and adhered them both to the card front using Fast Fuse.

I foolishly had already glued down the front pieces when I decided I wanted to do some heat embossing. Make sure you use your embossing buddy or some similar system to keep stray bits of embossing powder. I'd recommend doing that first on the navy piece before it is adhered in case of mistakes. I stamped the Mother's Day sentiment from Thoughtful Banners in Versamark and then heat embossed in white. It was crooked so I had to come up with a way to cover that up. I chose to cut two strips of navy and yellow cardstock and die cut the scallop edge. Then I repeated the embossing of the sentiment on the navy and placed it on the card using Fast Fuse. I then stamped the small daisies in Versamark and then white embossing powder and heat embossed them.

Then I turned my attention to the Happy on the front. This is the Happy Birthday thinlit. I cut out two of each color: white, navy and yellow and then stacked them to add depth to the front of the card. You can glue them together with the Fine Tip glue pen, use a Xyron, or use the new Adhesive sheets in the new catalog. (place your cardstock on the adhesive sheets first and then die cut).

I punched out 3 daisies with the daisy punch. I lightly colored them with the Daffodil Delight watercolor pencil, mostly just towards the center, and then used a paintbrush (from the April Paper Pumpkin kit) and some water to move that color around a bit. The bottom layer had the most color and then each successive layer had less color. I used my bone folder on the top two layers to curl them outwards some. I attached the second layer to the bottom with glue dots and then attached the top with a dimensional. I attached the entire daisy to the card front with a dimensional. The center of the daisy uses one of the new Gold Faceted Gems.

After doing all the previous steps, I decided the card lacked something so I die cut some stems and leaves from Old Olive using the stem die in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits and the leaves came from the Lovely Laurel thinlits (but any leaf and stem dies would work). I attached those to the card using the Fine Tip Glue pen, piecing them as I saw fit.

Finally for the inside, I took a piece of the daisy paper and cut it 1.5 x 4.25 and used the scallop die to make a matching piece for the inside. Right now it has no inside sentiment but I'll do that later.
