The new Aug-Dec Mini (although I will forever call it the Holiday) catalog is LIVE!  You can now place your orders and get a head start on your holiday crafting!

There is also a new Stampin' Up! store!  It is much easier to use, navigate and search! Here are some highlights of the new store:

• A Wishlist!  Underneath items there is a small heart.  Click on that and it will take you to a wishlist.  You can create as many wishlists as you like--say birthday or Christmas.  Then you can click on that wishlist and share it with your loved ones!  I can help you with it if you have any problems.  You can add items to your cart from the wishlist.
• A Feedback tab-  on the right-hand side there is a feedback tab.  You can click on anything in the site and give feedback.  (Someone let me know today that if you use Discovercard, your receipt may still say Visa although you used Discover.  Not a problem but they did let SU know via the feedback tab)
• Shopping Cart--now you can shop like other websites.  And if you need to leave before finishing, your items will remain in your cart.  FYI:  if an item in your cart sells out or goes on backorder, it will be removed
• Immediate access to our Inventory resources.  When you are looking at an item that is in low inventory or on backorder, it will show below the item itself.  You will know in advance whether something is on backorder.
• Larger Visuals--the items you are viewing are much larger and easier to see!
• Easier to search--More filters to narrow down your searches too
• Claim Rewards button--when your order reaches the $150 threshold and you earn Stampin' Rewards, it will flash on your screen.   And if you then go to another item, there will be a "Claim Rewards" button underneath.  You can click on that to claim as your Stampin Rewards or you can add to your cart to get more rewards.
• Guest Check out--If you don't want your information saved or don't want to log in, you can check out as a guest.  It will still require you to choose a demonstrator (please pick me).

For my July tutorial, I decided to use the Prized Peony stamp set and Peony Garden DSP.  I absolutely love peonies and I was so excited to see this suite in the catalog.  There are dies to match (get that bundle or the entire suite to save!) but I didn't use them this time.  I was using a One Sheet Wonder template to make this card.  I will show you other cards made using this template in a later blog post.

I really love that gray and white DSP and just coloring in a bit of it to make it stand out.  And I really, really love the crinkle seam binding ribbon--you can color it any color with your Blends to match any project!  It's quick and easy to do!

Here are all the directions:

Supplies:

Misc. – Peony Garden (DSP)  (152483); Ornate Frames Dies (150664); Stitched Rectangles Dies (151820); (Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon (151326); Petal Pink Blends (154893); Old Olive Blends (154892); Pearl Basic Jewels (144219); Dimensionals (104430); Stampin’ Seal+ (149699)

Measurements:  

• Gray Granite:            8 1/2” x 5 1/2”                       
• Petal Pink:                3 ½” x 5”             scrap for sentiment backing
• Whisper White:         4”x 5 ¼”                                 scrap (sentiment)
• DSP:                           3 ¼” x 4 3/4”             

  

Instructions:

• Score the Gray Granite card base at 4 ¼”.
• Choose a flower that you like on the DSP and color it with the Petal Pink Blends.  (You can color it all or just the dark portions.)  Color the leaves with Old Olive Blends. It will bleed through but that’s okay since it will be layered over the Petal Pink piece.  Attach to the Petal Pink piece with Seal+ or the adhesive of your choice.
• Take a piece of the ribbon and color it Petal Pink with your Blends.  It needs to be long enough to wrap around the card front and make a bow.
• Attach the card front to the Gray Granite base.
• Stamp the sentiment on the scrap of Whisper White and die cut and attach to the Petal Pink die cut frame
• Choose where it will look best on your card front and adhere with dimensionals.
• Put a line of pearls at the bottom.
• For the inside die cut the larger white piece with the Stitched Rectangle die.  Stamp the smaller peony at the bottom and color with your Blends.  Stamp the sentiment from Here’s a Card.

         

I wish the colors showed up better!  (It looks so much better in person). You can also stamp that smaller peony on your envelope or use some of the DSP to cover the flap.  Don't you just love to get pretty envelopes in the mail?  Happy mail--not bills!

For my June Tutorial, I used the Boho Indigo Medley (page 9 in the Annual Catalog).  It's great to use for cards or projects as it has most everything you need:  stamps, dies, embossed cardstock, 48 sheets of 6x6 paper, 2 different ribbons, die cuts with gold foil accents, and paper flowers.  You can even purchase a refill kit (does not come with the stamps, dies or ribbons).

Here is the card I made:

And here are the directions to make this card with just a few additions to the medley:

Supplies:

• Stamp Sets – Boho Indigo Product Medley (153132); Here’s A Card (149438)
• Card Stock – Very Vanilla Thick (144237); Misty Moonlight (153081)
• Stamp Pads – Misty Moonlight (153118)
• Misc. – In Color Enamel Dots (152480); Misty Moonlight ¼” Ribbon (153624); Seal (152813); Label Me Lovely Punch (151296); Dimensionals (104430)

 

Measurements:  

• Very Vanilla Thick:   8 1/2” x 5 1/2”                       
• Misty Moonlight:       5 ¼” x 4”    Scrap for label
• DSP:       embossed piece 1” x 5 ¼”; Floral piece 2” x 5 ¼”

 

Instructions:

• Score your Very Vanilla cardstock at 4 ¼” to make card base
• Using the Designer Papers in the Boho Indigo product medley, cut the strip of embossed vanilla paper and a strip of the floral paper using the measurements above.
• Leaving ½” on each side, attach first the embossed piece and then the floral piece lining up to butt up against each other.
• Wrap the Misty Moonlight ribbon around the card front piece, using tape on the backside to hold into place.  Then wrap a piece of the gold ribbon from the Boho Indigo medley next to the Misty Moonlight ribbon.
• Punch out the label from the Misty Moonlight scrap.
• Stamp the sentiment from Boho Indigo onto one of the labels included in the medley and attach to the label with Seal.  Add a gold flower included in the medley to the front of the label with Seal.
• Attach the label to the card front with dimensionals.
• Put enamel dots onto the flower centers of the embossed piece

And don't forget to pretty up your insides too!  I stamped the little flowers from the stamp set in Misty Moonlight at the bottom of the inside.
