Campmeeting

I've been at Tabernacle Campground for the past 10 days or so.  We go every year and it is a wonderful time of worship, fellowship, and family fun.  Tabernacle Campmeeting is the longest, continuous running camp meeting in the state of Alabama and we just had our 191st meeting!

Here is my family's "tent"

We had 25 of us staying there (11 bedrooms plus a camper in the back).  My dad got to go (he's 98) but it will be his last one as it is just too hard on him.  It's a primitive place--sawdust shavings for floors, outdoor showers with no hot water, mostly no air conditioning (some bedrooms have AC), dusty, and dirty, but we love it!  The kids are free to roam and play and stay up late.

Church services are held 3 times a day and it was such a blessing to hear God's word preached outdoors.  We held the Campground Olympics on Wednesday afternoon and all the children participated in games and events.  On Thursday night after the evening service, we had our Ice Cream Supper, with over 25 freezers of homemade ice cream.

Here are some photos of our times there:

And I got a photo of myself with my dad and husband (I wish I'd had a little makeup on but oh, well)

It was a wonderful week but I did miss crafting!  Now that I am home, I hope to get some cards made!

Last Day to Get Paper Pumpkin!

Today is the last day to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin and get the July kit!

This kit coordinates with 3 different suites in the new annual catalog--Come Sail Away, Woven Threads, and Garden Lane.  I love Stampin' Up!'s coordination!  It contains 9 mailable cards (with envelopes) --3 designs.

You can get this kit two different ways:

1.  Subscribe to a month to month kit at $22 a month.  You can control how many kits you get, suspend it if you think you won't like the kit, cancel at any time.

2.  Purchase a prepaid kit.  These are available as a single kit, 3-months, 6-months, and 12-months.  With the 6 months and 12 months, you save!  Purchase the 12 months and you pay for 11 months and get the 12th free!  If you purchase at least a 6-month subscription right now, you'll also earn Bonus Bucks!

By subscribing to Paper Pumpkin, you also have access to past Paper Pumpkin kits (if available)

FYI:  although the prepaid kit looks cheaper ($21 vs $22), the month to month kit includes shipping but you have to pay shipping (min. $6.95) on a prepaid kit.

If you do purchase a prepaid kit, Stampin' Up! will send you an email with an activation code.  You MUST set up an account using that activation code before 11:50 pm MT to get the July kit!  They will ask you for a credit card (you will not be charged because you have already paid in advance) to facilitate continuing should you so choose once your prepaid is over!

Come Sail Away Birthday Card

Yesterday was my Dad's 98th birthday.  I am so thankful that I still have him with me and that I was able to spend a lot of time with him last month while I was at the beach (he lives there).  The month at the beach was so relaxing, I wish I could live there!

Here is the card I made for my Dad

I love using the Come Sail Away suite in the new catalog!  The paper is gorgeous, the stamps wonderful and I love the dies!

Here are all the details:

I used the Memories and More Notecards (now retired and unavailable) for the base, but you could use Night of Navy for your base.  I topped that with some paper from the Pressed Petals DSP.  On top of that is paper from the Come Sail Away DSP topped with a smaller piece of DSP.  The top layer was whisper white die cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I love the look that gives your cardstock!  The sentiment is from Here's a Card stamped in Night of Navy on Whisper White and cut out with a die from the  Smooth Sailing Dies.  I sponged Soft Suede ink around it to give it some dimension and popped it up on dimensionals.  The sailboat was stamped in Night of Navy and the anchor in Soft Suede.

Magical Mermaid Birthday Card

Today is my only granddaughter's birthday--she is 7.  I found a silver mermaid necklace for her and made her a card to match.

I stamped the mermaid on Shimmery White with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored with my blends.I fussy cut it and attached to the card front using dimensionals. Wink of Stella makes her tail and body shine.  Her headband has pearls on it.  The card base is Bermuda Bay topped with pool party.  I stamped the seaweed with gray granite and bermuda bay and then I used a retired embossing folder to emboss the pool party piece.  I took a piece of very vanilla and stamped the "sand" in crumb cake on it and tore a piece off for the bottom of the card.  I stamped the sentiment on Shimmery White and cut out with the Layering Circle Dies backed with Bermuda Bay.

The inside uses a piece of Shimmery White cut out with the Stitched Rectangle dies and the sentiment and mermaid were done in Bermuda Bay.

Happy birthday, sweet Quinn!

Come Sail Away Anniversary card

Yesterday was my 47th wedding anniversary.  Wow, I can't believe it's been so long because it still seems like yesterday!

Here is the card I made for my husband

Being at the beach and only a day after Father's Day, I didn't have a lot of time to make my cards.  He was gone for the weekend so I was able to do a little crafting at night.  Using the Come Sail Away Memories & More cards made this much easier!

The base of the card is soft suede, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4".  I topped that with a piece of whisper white 5 1/4" x 4" and cut out with the rectangle stitched dies.  That piece was topped with a Memories and More card that I stamped the sentiment on with Soft Suede.  I added 3 gold pearls (colored bronze with my Blends) just below the sentiment.  Linen thread was wrapped around that piece and tied into a knot before attaching to the card base.

I stamped the lighthouse and the compass in Soft Suede and then die cut them using the Smooth Sailing Dies and the Layering Circles dies.  I die cut the compass needle out of Soft Suede and attached to the compass with a glue dot.  I added a gold (colored bronze with my bronze Blends) pearl to the top.

The inside was fairly easy using two Memories and More cards trimmed down to fit side by side.  The sentiment on the inside is from Itty Bitty Greetings.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there and especially to my dad (who turns 98 in a couple of weeks), my hubby, my two sons and my son-in-law, all of whom are great dads!

I made cards for my dad and husband (sorry, boys, I didn't get cards to you this year since I'm making them at the beach and beach time!)

Here is the card I made for my dad

I love this "A Good Man" stamp set.  It is reminiscent of a set Stampin' Up! had many years ago that was wildly popular (I still have it!).  Since my dad lives at the beach, I thought this was appropriate for him.  Up until the last few weeks, he walked on the beach daily.  I would normally have watercolored this with our inks but I forgot to bring watercolor paper or shimmery white paper with me to the beach and regular cardstock doesn't hold up very well to watercolors!  I colored this with Blends instead.

For my hubby, I also used this stamp set

He is always carrying the grandkids around on his shoulders so this was perfect!
