The Grove Get Well Card

My husband's first cousin is undergoing treatment for his second cancer and I wanted to make him a card to help cheer him up.  Masculine cards are always a little difficult for me.

This card features the Grove dies in Evening Evergreen on a Soft Succulent cardbase.  I stamped the sentiment on Basic White using Evening Evergreen ink and then die cut it using the Waves dies.  The sentiment is from Speedy Recovery.  I forgot to take a photo of the inside.  I stamped the envelope flap with a stamp from the Limited Edition stamp set.

To stick down that intricate die cut on the card front, I used multipurpose glue but would normally use adhesive sheets on the cardstock first.  I just put the glue on by using a sponge and sponging it on.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday and it's also my daughter's.  She was such a wonderful present!

In celebration, I am offering a special present to all my customers who order at least $50 in products from now until the end of the month.  I will be sending you a small gift and also will put your name in the hat for a $25 gift card of Stampin' Up! products from me

Hues of Happiness Thinking of You card

Unfortunately I've had to make some sympathy cards lately and here is one of them using the Hues of Happiness suite of products

I always like to use white on the inside of the card and diecut it to make it special.  And don't forget to decorate the envelope by either covering the flap with pretty papers or stamping on it.  We all love to get some pretty cards in the mail and especially when you are trying to cheer up someone!

Here are all the details to make this card:

Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets – Go To Greetings (158763); Peaceful Moments (151595)
  • Card Stock – Gorgeous Grape (146987); Highland Heather (146986); Basic White (159276)
  • Stamp Pads – Gorgeous Grape (147099)
  • Misc. – Hues of Happiness (DSP)  (158822); Blossoming Happiness Dies (158823); Artisan Additions Dies (159172); Stylish Shapes Dies (159183); Deckled Rectangles  Dies (159173); White 3/8” Glittered Ribbon (156408); Sponge Dauber (133773); In Color Opal Rounds (159185); Basic White Envelope (159236); Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755); Dimensionals (104430); Stampin’ Seal (152813)

Measurements:

  • Gorgeous Grape:     8 1/2” x 5 1/2”                        3 ½” x 4”
  • Highland Heather:   4” x 5 ¼”
  • Basic White:                4” x 2” scrap for banner  4” x 5 “
  • DSP:               small piece with full flower on it     2 ¼”x 5 ½” for envelope

Instructions:

  • Score the card base at 4 ¼”
  • Die cut the floral piece on left of card using the Artisan Additions Dies.  You can do this two ways.  You can first put the cardstock on Adhesive Sheets (152452) and then die cut or just die cut.  I die cut and then put small amounts of liquid glue on the back and adhered to the left side of the Highland Heather piece.
  • Die cut the flower from the DSP using the Blooming Happiness die that matches the flower.
  • Since we no longer have Gorgeous Grape sheer ribbon (use if you have it!), I took some (about 5 ¾”) White Glittered Ribbon and colored it using my Gorgeous Grape ink and a sponge dauber. Attach around the Highland Heather piece
  • Die cut the banner from the Stylish Shapes dies and stamp the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink.  Attach over the ribbon using dimensionals.  Attach the diecut flower using dimensionals.
  • Adhere the card front to the card base and decorate with 5 of the In Color Opal rounds
  • Die cut the large piece of Basic White using the Deckled Rectangle Dies for the inside of the card.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the white piece.
  • Cover the envelope flap with the small piece of DSP using liquid glue

Instructions:

  • Score card base at 4 ¼”
  • Die cut the larger Basic White piece with the Stitched with Whimsy Die (for the inside of the card)
  • Attach the Old Olive ribbon (about 4 ¾”) around the front of the DSP piece and adhere to the back
  • Punch out the smaller Basic White piece with the Lasting Label die
  • Stamp the sentiment from Nature’s Prints with Mossy Meadow ink.  Using a sponge dauber, ink the edges with Mossy Meadow
  • Attach the card front to the card base with Seal or your favorite adhesive.
  • Attach the sentiment piece to the card front with dimensionals.
  • Decorate with the Brushed Brass Butterflies
  • On the inside attach the Stitched with Whimsy piece
  • Cover the flap of the envelope with the Design a Daydream piece with Multipurpose glue and trim around the edges with paper snips

I try to always decorate the envelope in some way--either covering the flap with DSP or stamping on the envelope.  Who doesn't want to open a pretty envelope?  It creates a little excitement before getting to the main event!  And if the card base is a color, I always use some white cardstock on the inside and it's even better decorated in some way!

Don't forget about the Starter Kit deal ending on May 31!  Get your kit here
