T onight I demonstrated the Faux Ribbon Technique and we created two cards. I saw this technique a couple weeks ago and fell in love. It looks complicated, but really, it's not. The most important to know is how to place the Designer Series Paper, and use a 1/2" piece of cardstock as a spacer.
Project Recipe
Dimensions:
Granny Apple Green: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" scored at 4-1/4"
Basic White: 4-3/4" x 3-1/2"; 3" x 1/2" for spacing
Blackberry Bliss: 5-3/8" x 1-1/2"
Polished Pink: 5-1/4" x 1-3/8"
Calypso Coral: 3" x 1"
Two different DSP 2-1/2" x 1/2" approximately 6 of each.
*At the time of this posting I had lost access to my TAMS. The supplies can be found at https://mystampinstuff.com/recipe.cfm?enc_project_id=IyMgLy4K
Use the Granny Apple Green cardstock to create the card base.
Add a strip of DSP along the side of the 4-3/4” x 3-1/2” white cardstock for the inside.
Stamp the greeting on the cardstock that is for the inside (if desired) and adhere to the inside of
the card.
Die cut the flowers and leaves out of the Designer Series Paper with the coordinating dies.
Stamp the greeting for the outside on Calypso Coral cardstock and punch the ends using the
Banners Pick-a-Punch. Set aside.
Cut 2-1/2” x 1/2” Designer Series Paper of two different patters; six each.
Cut a 3” x 1/2” piece of white cardstock to use as a spacer.
Begin laying the first strip at a diagonal using the darkest color. Keep in mind the orientation of
the designer series paper if it is directional. The strip should be long enough to hang off on both
sides (we’ll cut those later.)
You can see this on my YouTube video (https://youtu.be/B2avHqwB7ZQ) at about 28 minutes in.
The strip should be long enough to hang off on both sides (we’ll cut those later.)
Hold the white 1/2” spacer directly below it and add the next strip of DSP using the same color.
Remove the white spacer.
Repeat this step down the cardstock.
Start the second set (lighter color DSP) going the opposite direction. You can see this
demonstrated at 30:38 of the YT video.
Turn the pink cardstock over and trim off the excess.
Attach the Polished Pink cardstock to the Blackberry Bliss cardstock. Adhere the layers to the card.
Attach the flowers to the front of the card base and use Dimensionals for the top most rose and
the Merry Merlot flowers (if desired.)
Attach the greeting to the front.
Finish the card using the Opal Rounds.
