Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Old Olive Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Terracotta Tile Cardstock
- 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2 strips each 7/8" x 4-3/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2 strips each 3/4" x 4-3/4" of pink, orange, and white flowers closely packed on light green background design from Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/8" square from Terracotta Tile Cardstock
- 3-1/8" square from Whisper White Cardstock
Insert the large Terracotta Tile rectangle into the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the paper inside on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed Terracotta Tile rectangle to the front of the Old Olive card.
Adhere the strips of Ornate Garden Designer Paper to the strips of Old Olive Cardstock so they are centered top to bottom.
Stamp the "Hope things get better soon." or "Hope you're back on your feet soon." or "Sigh..." or "Ouch!" sentiment from the Back On Your Feet Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it on the vertical white rectangle so the top of the sentiment is about 1-1/4" from the bottom of the cardstock and the longer sentiments are about 5/8" in from the right side (shorter sentiments will need to be slightly further toward the center).
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the matted strips of designer paper across the top of the stamped white rectangle at an angle so there is about 1/8" of white showing between them. When happy with the placement, adhere them in place one at at time.
Use Paper Snips to trim off excess designer paper strips on the right and left edges of the white rectangle.
Adhere the stamped white rectangle with paper strips attached to the front of the card in the center.
Mount the sloth on a branch image from the Back On Your Feet Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white square. Leave the stamp on the block.
Pick out the smooth circle die that cuts out a smooth circle that is 2-5/8" diameter from the Layering Circles Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sloth image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sloth is centered top to bottom and the sloth's rear end almost touches the right side of the circle. Run through the tool.
Pick out the scalloped circle die that cuts out a scalloped circle that is 2-13/16 diameter from the Layering Circles Dies. Put it on top of the Terracotta Tile square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the tool.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the designer paper that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the sloth circle on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Dark and Light Old Olive Stampin' Blends Markers to color in the leaves on the tree branch.
Use the Dark Old Olive Stampin' Blends Marker to add some streaks of green to the sloth's fur.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede Stampin' Blends Markers to color in the sloth's fur. Leave the mask around his eyes and nose/mouth uncolored for now. Leave his claws uncolored for now. Leave his bandage uncolored.
Use the fine tip of the Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Marker to color in the mask around the sloth's eyes and nose/mouth and his claws.
Use the fine tip of the Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Marker to color in the branch.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess color.
Re-ink the sloth on a branch image on Block D with the Memento Pad. Stamp it near the top of a Post-It Note where you'll get some of the sticky on the back of the sloth image.
Use Paper Snips to carefully cut out the sloth and the parts of the branch he is laying on stamped on the Post-It Note. Cut just inside the stamped lines. You can cut off the claws and the end of the branch with the leaves.
Put the Post-It Note cut out sloth on top of the sloth stamped on the circle.
Rub a quarter piece of Stamping Sponge across the open Old Olive Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, lightly rub it onto the circle sloth image to turn the background behind the sloth green. Get more ink on the sponge piece as needed.
Tip: Cut a Stamping Sponge into quarters using scissors. This will give you more pieces of sponge to work with and will give you more control as the pieces are smaller and easier to hold.
Tip: I just clean my sponge pieces when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Remove the Post-It Note sloth cut out from the sponged circle.
Adhere the colored and sponged sloth circle cut out to the center of the Terracotta Tile scalloped circle cut out.
Adhere the matted sloth circle to the front of the card so it is centered over the sentiment and the strips of designer paper.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one large and one small Terracotta Tile butterfly gem from a sheet of Butterfly Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them around the sentiment on the card front as shown.
