A dorable birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Petunia Pop Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Bubble Bath Cardstock
- 2-5/8" x 4-3/8" from Petunia Pop Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 4-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 4-3/8" of Petunia Pop stripes from 2024-2026 In Color 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Assortment, cut so the stripes are horizontal on the vertical strip
- 2-1/4" square from Petunia Pop Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square from Basic White Cardstock
Insert the Bubble Bath rectangle into the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed Bubble Bath rectangle to the front of the Petunia Pop card.
Mount the hamster image from the Hearts & Hugs Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the 2-1/4" white square.
Pick out the matching hamster die from the Hearts & Hugs Dies. Put it on top of the stamped hamster image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine
Tip: I find it better to cut out images before coloring them in. That way if the die slips as you are cutting you haven't wasted time and ink on the image.
Place the hamster cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Dark Bubble Bath Stampin' Blends to color in the hamster's paws, nose, and inside of his ears.
Use the Dark and Light Bubble Bath Stampin' Blends to color in his cheeks and belly.
Use the Light Basic Black Stampin' Blends to color the edges of his fur all around.
Use the Dark and Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the hamster's arms, head, tops of his ears, and the rest of his belly and cheeks.
Mount the "sending birthday hugs" sentiment from the Hearts & Hugs Set on Block C. Ink up ONLY the words "birthday hugs" using the side of the brush tip of the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the sentiment in the center of the 2-1/4" Petunia Pop square.
Pick out the large grid of hearts die included in the Adoring Hearts Hybrid Embossing Folder. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so one of the hearts is centered over the sentiment. Run through the machine.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the colored hamster cut out and heart sentiment cut out on the remaining, vertical white rectangle to figure out spacing and placement.
Mount the set of three little hearts image from the Hearts & Hugs Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Bubble Bath Ink Pad. Stamp it three times onto the white rectangle around the heart and hamster cut outs as shown. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Change the orientation of the stamp a bit each time.
Adhere the stamped white rectangle to the center of the remaining Petunia Pop rectangle.
Adhere the Petunia Pop stripes strip of 2024-2026 In Color Designer Series Paper to the back of the matted white rectangle so the stripes stick out about 3/8" on the left side.
Adhere the stamped and matted white rectangle with designer paper attached to the front of the card at a slight angle as shown.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the Gold Twisted Thread.
Wrap one end of the thread around the hamster's arm on the right side and tie in place with a knot. Make sure you leave a tail of thread hanging down from the bottom.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the hamster cut out with thread attached to the front of the card as shown at a slight angle.
Cut the thread so it is about 3" long above the hamster's arm.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the end of the thread to the back of the sentiment heart cut out so the thread is coming from the bottom of the heart. Add extra Dimensionals as needed to adhere the heart cut out in place.
Remove the protective backings from the back of the heart cut out and adhere it in place at a slight angle as shown.
Cut a 2-1/2" piece of the Gold Twisted Thread.
Slide one end of the thread under the thread already on the card front at the base of the heart balloon. Tie in place with a knot. Trim the ends and fray them a bit.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 large and 3 small Pretty In Pink or Petunia Pop gems from a sheet of 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere one large gem to the bottom of the heart balloon as shown. Adhere the others randomly to the card front as shown.
