P layful new baby card for twins using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Whisper White Thick Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 3" x 4-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 3" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Purple Posy Cardstock
Mount the long, wavy, plaid strip image from the Little Elephant Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Sponge Dauber rubbed across the surface of the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. Stamp it on the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" white rectangle so it goes off the left edge about 1-1/4" from the top edge. Re-ink the stamp with the Sponge Dauber and Seaside Spray Ink and stamp it again on the same line so it goes off the right edge of the cardstock. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp the image in the center of the cardstock just under the two previously stamped images (this will not show later, this is just to help you with spacing in the next step). Leave the stamp on the block.
Tip: Sometimes you will get a better image with stamps that have fine lines inside a solid image if you ink them up using a Sponge Dauber.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Daubers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Re-ink the long, wavy, plaid strip image on Block H using the Sponge Dauber and Seaside Spray Ink. Stamp it on the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" white rectangle so it goes off the left edge and is just below the previously stamped light image in the center. Re-ink the stamp with the Sponge Dauber and Seaside Spray Ink and stamp it again on the same line so it goes off the right edge of the cardstock. Clean the stamp using the Simply Shammy and/or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub, but leave it on the block.
Re-ink the long, wavy, plaid strip image on Block H using a different Sponge Dauber and Purple Posy Ink. Stamp it on the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" white rectangle so it goes off the left edge and is in line with the previously stamped light image in the center (between the previously stamped Seaside Spray images). Re-ink the stamp with the Sponge Dauber and Purple Posy Ink and stamp it again on the same line so it goes off the right edge of the cardstock. Clean the stamp, but leave it on the block.
Re-ink one long half of the long, wavy, plaid strip image on Block H using a Sponge Dauber and Purple Posy Ink. Re-ink the other long half of the image using a Sponge Dauber and Seaside Spray Ink. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it on the 1" x 4" white rectangle. Set the stamped image aside for now. Clean the stamp and put it away.
Pick out the large, stitched rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies that cuts out a rectangle that is 3-13/16" x 5-1/8". Put it on top of the large stamped white rectangle on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the stamped wavy lines are centered horizontally. Run through the tool.
Adhere the stamped wavy lines stitched rectangle cut out to the front of the Whisper White Thick card.
Mount the large plaid elephant image from the Little Elephant Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Purple Posy Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the vertical 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" strip of white cardstock. Clean the stamp, but leave it on the block.
If needed, use the Sponge Dauber method to ink up the stamp.
Re-ink the large plaid elephant image on Block C with the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. Stamp it on the other end of the vertical 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" strip of white cardstock. Leave room between the images to punch them out. Clean the stamp, but leave it on the block.
If needed, use the Sponge Dauber method to ink up the stamp.
Unlock the Elephant Builder Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide one of the stamped elephant images into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch. Repeat with the other elephant image. Leave the punch unlocked.
Re-ink the large plaid elephant image on Block C with the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the vertical 1" x 3" strip of white cardstock so you get the ear. Clean the stamp, but leave it on the block.
Re-ink the large plaid elephant image on Block C with the Purple Posy Ink Pad. Stamp it on the other end of the vertical 1" x 3" strip of white cardstock so you get the ear. Leave room between the images to punch them out. Clean the stamp and put it away.
Holding the unlocked Elephant Builder Punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide one of the stamped ear images into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch. Repeat with the other ear image.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere each punched out ear image to the punched out elephant of the opposite color so it is over the ear on the punched out elephant.
Use Paper Snips to cut out by hand the previously stamped two-tone long, wavy, plaid image on the 1" x 4" piece of white cardstock.
Pick out the stitched rectangle die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies that cuts out a rectangle that is 2-5/8" x 3-15/16". Put it on top of the 3" x 4-1/2" white rectangle on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the cut out two-tone wavy strip along the bottom of the cut out stitched white rectangle cut out so the left edge of the cut out wavy strip almost touches the left edge of the rectangle. WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the two elephant punch outs on top of the wavy strip so they overlap it a tiny bit and the tail of the right elephant is about 1/4" from the right edge and the tail of the left elephant and the trunk of the right elephant just touch. Make a tiny mark with the pencil over the trunk of each elephant.
Remove the cut out two-tone wavy strip and elephant punch outs from the stitched white rectangle cut out.
Mount the bunch of balloons image from the Little Elephant Set on Block B. Use the brush tips of the markers to ink up the image. Use the Gray Granite Marker on the strings and the Purple Posy and Seaside Markers on the balloons. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the balloons on the stitched white rectangle so the strings will hit where the first trunk mark is made on the left side. Make sure the tops of the balloons are on the stitched white rectangle. Clean the stamp, but leave it on the block.
Re-ink the bunch of balloons image on Block B using the brush tips of the markers. Try to color the balloons the opposite colors from before. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the balloons on the stitched white rectangle so the strings will hit where the second trunk mark is made on the right side. Make sure the tops of the balloons are on the stitched white rectangle. Clean the stamp and put it away.
Adhere the elephant punch outs to the stamped stitched white rectangle cut out so the trunks cover the ends of the balloons.
Adhere the cut out two-tone wavy strip to the stamped stitched white rectangle so it is tucked under the elephants' feet and the left side almost touches the left side of the rectangle.
Adhere the stitched white rectangle with balloons, elephants, and wavy line to the center of the card front.
Mount the "hello little one" sentiment from the Little Elephant Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Gray Granite Ink Pad. Stamp it on the strip of Purple Posy Cardstock.
If the card is for twins, then use the fine tip of the Gray Granite Marker to add an "s" to the end of the word "one." If the card is for a single baby, then skip this step.
Unlock the Balloon Bouquet Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped sentiment into the punch and get it centered in the small balloon punching area. Make sure the words will be right side up on the punched out balloon. Punch.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the balloon punch out to the front of the card at a slight angle so it covers the lower right corner of the stitched white rectangle with the elephants, balloons, and wavy line.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the card front at a slight angle at the bottom of the balloon punch out.
