Day at the Beach Birthday Swap |
![]() |
T he second of my OnStage Savannah swaps. I wanted to do a summery birthday card and I do love to watercolor!

This card uses Whisper White Thick card stock as its base.
The flip flops were stamped in Basic Black archival ink on a piece of whisper white cut to 4-5/8 x 1-7/8". I then used the watercolor pencils in Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay. I wanted them dark around the edges and lighter on the shoes themselves. I took an aqua painter and used it as a paint brush. I dipped it in some water rather than squeeze water out to better control the amount used. Since I wasn't using watercolor paper I didn't want too much water on the paper.
I layered the whisper white onto Melon Mambo cardstock cut to 4-3/4 x 2" and then layered that onto Daffodil Delight card stock cut to 4-7/8 x 2-1/8. Finally I put all those layers onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cut to 5 x 2-1/4".
Next I wanted to do a beach umbrella and used the Umbrella Weather Framelits for that. First I stamped the umbrella top onto Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay polka dot paper from the Brights Designer Paper Stack and then cut them out with the Big Shot.
Before attaching to the card base, I did the stamping on the base--the sun in Crushed Curry, the sentiment from Suite Sentiments in Melon Mambo. I stamped in Basic Black archival ink the umbrella handle from the Weather Together stamp set. (FYI: I first checked to make sure the umbrella top would fit in the space)
I adhered the layered piece with the flip flops using Fast Fuse over the umbrella handle. I then added the umbrella top using dimensionals.
