Butterfly Gala Butterfly Flurry |
A pretty thank you card using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Terracotta Tile Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" s 5-1/4" of one of the pink designs from Peony Garden Designer Series Paper
- 1-3/4" x 3-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 5" x 6" from Basic White Cardstock
Pick out the large, open, interconnected butterflies die from the Brilliant Wings Dies. Place the die on top of the 5" x 6" white rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered. Run through the machine.
Note: You are using the white rectangle with the butterflies cut out of it on this project as a stencil. Keep all the butterfly cut outs to use on other projects if you want. If desired, you can stamp the butterflies first using the Butterfly Brilliance stamp and any color of ink you want.
Place the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of white cardstock on some Grid Paper. Place the white rectangle with the butterflies cut out of it on top of the white cardstock as a stencil. If desired, use small pieces of washi tape to hold the stencil in place.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Petal Pink Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly rub the inky Blending Brush all over the stencil and through the stencil onto the white cardstock below. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed. Remove the stencil.
Tip: You can keep the stencil to use again and again on other projects.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
As you are ready to stamp using the Butterfly Gala Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Butterfly Gala Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Terracotta Tile Ink Pad. Stamp it on the bottom right side of the stenciled white cardstock about 3/4" from the bottom. Leave room on the left side for the designer paper and ribbon.
To make it easier to stamp the big and little butterflies separately, use Paper Snips to carefully cut a set of the butterflies from the Butterfly Gala Set apart.
If you don't want to cut your stamps apart, then you can just carefully ink up only the butterfly you want to stamp by pressing only it to the ink pad, but it is much easier if you cut them apart!
Mount the small butterfly you cut loose image from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Terracotta Tile Ink Pad. Stamp it randomly all over the stenciled white rectangle with the sentiment stamped on it. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Change the orientation every so often. Let some of the images go off the edges.
Adhere the strip of Peony Garden Designer Paper to the left side of the stenciled and stamped white rectangle.
Cut a 6" piece of the Terracotta Tile 1/4" ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack.
Lay the ribbon across the designer paper/stenciled and stamped cardstock so it covers the seam between the two pieces. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the white rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Terracotta Tile card.
Mount the large butterfly you cut loose image from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Terracotta Tile Ink Pad. Stamp it on end of the horizontal white strip.
Mount the solid, large, top wings image from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Petal Pink Ink Pad. Stamp it inside the top wings of the stamped large butterfly image.
Mount the solid, large, bottom wings image from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Petal Pink Ink Pad. Stamp it inside the bottom wings of the stamped large butterfly image.
Unlock the Butterfly Duet Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the large stamped butterfly image into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch.
Mount the larger, solid butterfly body image from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Terracotta Tile Ink Pad and stamp it in the center of the large, stamped butterfly punch out.
Tip: I find it easier to line up the body for the butterfly if I punch the image out first.
Bend the wings up a bit if desired.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the butterfly punch out to the front of the card at a slight angle so it is near the top and centered over the stenciled and stamped white cardstock that is showing.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 3 tiny jewels from a sheet of Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them in a rough triangle around the large butterfly punch out.
Cut a 3" piece of the Terracotta Tile 1/4" ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack.
Slide one end of the ribbon piece under the ribbon already on the card and tie in place about 1-1/4" from the top using a half knot. Trim the ends.
