Butterfly Gala Vellum Butterflies May Swap |
A pretty card I created for a small swap I participate in using Stampin' Up! products and heat embossing.

Cut cardstock and vellum cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a cutting and scoring tool:
- card from Petal Pink Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Petal Pink Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 4-1/4" of Petal Pink Vellum from Perennial Essence 12" x 12" Vellum Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/4" of So Saffron Vellum from Perennial Essence 12" x 12" Vellum Cardstock
Lightly spray the So Saffron Cardstock rectangle with water. This will help you get a deeper impression when you dry emboss it.
Insert the damp So Saffron rectangle into the Country Floral 3D Embossing Folder. Use the line drawn on the front flap of the folder to help you line the cardstock up straight. Run the folder with the paper inside through your die cutting and embossing tool. Set aside to allow to dry.
As you are ready to stamp using the Butterfly Gala Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock or vellum cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put some paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the "the good things ..." sentiment from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block B. Ink it up with the So Saffron Ink Pad. Stamp it just to the right of center on the white rectangle.
Pick out the smooth oval die from the Layering Ovals Dies that cuts out a smooth oval that is 1-13/16" wide. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment is centered top to bottom and close to the right side. Run through the tool.
Pick out the scalloped oval die from the Layering Ovals Dies that cuts out a scalloped oval that is 2" wide. Put it on top of the Petal Pink rectangle on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool.
Adhere the sentiment oval to the center of the Petal Pink scalloped oval.
If the dry embossed So Saffron rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step. Speed up drying by using the Heat Tool if needed.
Adhere the dry embossed So Saffron rectangle to the front of the Petal Pink card.
Adhere the matted sentiment oval to the center of the card front.
Rub the Embossing Buddy all over the strips of vellum cardstock.
Mount one of the butterfly set images from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block D. Ink up the large butterfly by pressing it to the VersaMark Pad. Stamp it on one end of the Petal Pink Vellum Cardstock strip.
Mount a different one of the butterfly set images from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block D. Ink up the large butterfly by pressing it to the VersaMark Pad. Stamp it on the other end of the Petal Pink Vellum Cardstock strip.
Lay the stamped vellum strip on top of some Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some Shimmer White Stampin' Emboss Powder so it covers all the stamped images. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool until it is completely melted (shiny and more opaque white).
Tip: Use a clothespin to hold the designer paper while using the Heat Tool to avoid burning your fingers.
Mount a third different butterfly set image from the Butterfly Gala Set on Block D. Ink up the large butterfly by pressing it to the VersaMark Pad. Stamp it on one end of the So Saffron Vellum Cardstock strip.
Lay the stamped vellum strip on top of some Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some Shimmer White Stampin' Emboss Powder so it covers all of the stamped image. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool until it is completely melted (shiny and more opaque white).
Tip: Use a clothespin to hold the designer paper while using the Heat Tool to avoid burning your fingers.
Unlock the Butterfly Duet Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. One at a time, get a heat embossed butterfly image centered in the corresponding punching area and punch them out.
Use a small dab of SNAIL in the center of the back of each of the pink butterfly punch outs to adhere them at angles to the card front so they overlap the top left and bottom left of the matted sentiment ovals.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the yellow butterfly punch out to the card front at a slight angle so it overlaps the left edge of the matted sentiment ovals and the top and bottom of the pink butterflies.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 round and 1 flower Grapefruit Grove sequins from a sheet of Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the lower right corner of the card front in a line with the flower sequin in the center.
