Garden Wishes Faux Leather |
|
T his is a technique I haven’t seen before. It adds an extra touch of masculinity or a sort of organic look to your manly cards.
Begin with 8-1/2" x 11" Very Vanilla cardstock scored at 4-1/4" and folded to create card base.
Using a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of cardstock cover it with small pieces of masking tape. Don't leave any area uncovered. Once covered trim the excess off the edges with scissors.
(Hint: if you use a slightly larger piece of cardstock, when you finish coving it with masking tape, you can cut the size down to the 5-1/4" x 4" quicker than trimming it with scissors.)
Cover the entire area with Mossy Meadow ink. I used make-up brushes, because my SU Blending Brushes were on backorder.
Go back over the entire area with Pear Pizzazz to lighten it up. This makes the Mossy Meadow stand out more along the edges of the tape making it look more like leather.
Cover the entire area with Clear Embossing Powder and set with a Heat Tool. No need to use Versamark or Heat & Stick Powder. The powder will stick without it.
Adhere the Faux Leather to the front of the card base.
Using a 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" Very vanilla cardstock. Stamp it with a stamp from the Garden Wishes stamp set with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Set it aside a moment to dry.
Stamp the center of the flower with Highland Heather ink. Use Highland Heather light Stampin' Blends to color in the smaller flower and to add some color to the top of the unopen flower.
Use Mossy Meadow and Old Olive Stampin' Blends to color in most of the rest of the stamp. I chose not to color mine in completely.
Use a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to stamp the greeting and use the Label Me Fancy Punch to punch it out. Use the small circle on the punch to make the hole in the corner.
Thread Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Thread through the hole and wrap it around the card. Tie a knot next to the greeting.
Adhere the layer to the card front with Dimensionals.
