Rubber Band Technique Sympathy Card |
|
A
simple but elegant card that makes a nice note for anyone but especially for expressing sympathy. Uses a fun simple technique with rubber bands and masking.
CASE'd from Tina Zinck.

Card Base in Thick Whisper White - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4.
Stamp onto a Whisper White panel the fern, butterfly and greeting in Stazon Black ink. Cut out using die cuts and a punch for the greeting. Color butterfly using a marker.
Put card on grid paper. Mask both sides of card with strips of post it paper keeping paper lined up straight using the grid paper to line it up. I like to have one side with a bigger margin than the other.
Use a light hued ink to color the card stock where it is not masked but overlapping the mask with sponge brayer or sponging technique. Start off the paper and work your way onto the card stock. (If using a sponge use a gentle circular motion.) Add color until it is evenly spread and at the desired saturation.
Wrap a different widths of rubber bands around a block.
Ink the rubber bands by tapping them into an ink pad. Use any ink color that coordinates or enhances the color you already sponged onto the paper. Black looks good too! (I used Versamark then used silver embossing powder and set it with a heat tool.) Re-ink the rubber band several times and vary the angle of the block as you stamp covering the area you sponged. Remove masks. So Pretty!
I adhered a piece of punched out silver foil behind the punched out greeting so just a sliver showed at the bottom and side. Adhere the greeting and die cuts onto card overlapping the the sponged & stamped background using mini glue dots.
