Whale Done Big Deal Bubbles |
F un card perfect for a birthday or congratulations using Stampin' Up! products and the rock & roll technique.
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Misty Moonlight Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" from Seaside Spray Cardstock
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Thick Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 4" from Misty Moonlight Cardstock
Place the 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White Thick rectangle vertically on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Tip: I like to use the thick cardstock for watercoloring as it holds up better when it gets wet.
Unscrew the Water Painter with the large, flat brush tip. Fill the barrel with water and screw the tip back in place.
Tip: The Water Painters unscrew in the opposite direction of what you'd expect.
Open the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad but leave the lid exposed. Gently squeeze the Water Painter over the lid to get the water flowing. Swipe the brush tip lightly across the open ink pad. Swipe off excess color on the Grid Paper and then paint across the thick white cardstock in undulating swipes. Get more ink on the brush tip as needed. When happy with the painted background, set the cardstock aside to allow to dry.
Pick out the three smallest smooth circle dies from the Layering Circles Dies. Put them on top of the Seaside Spray cardstock on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool forming a rough triangle with the largest circle in the upper left corner and the smallest circle in the lower left corner. Run through the tool.
Insert the Seaside Spray rectangle with the three circles cut out of it into the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. Use the line drawn on the front flap of the folder to help you line the cardstock up straight. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine.
If the watercolored thick white rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying with a Heat Tool if needed.
WITHOUT ADHERING, place the dry embossed Seaside Spray rectangle with circles cut out of it on top of the watercolored thick white rectangle so the large circle is in the upper left corner.
As you are ready to stamp using the Whale Done Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Whale Done Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad. Carefully stamp the sentiment inside the large circle cut in the Seaside Spray rectangle.
Mount the group of little fish image from the Whale Done Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. Carefully stamp it inside the top of the medium sized circle cut into the Seaside Spray rectangle.
Adhere the Seaside Spray rectangle with circles cut out of it to the stamped, watercolored thick white rectangle. You can move the top layer around a bit if needed to make sure the sentiment is centered in the big circle at the top. If necessary, use Paper Snips to trim off any excess white cardstock along the back edges.
Adhere the layered white/Seaside Spray rectangle to the front of the Misty Moonlight card.
Mount the whale image from the Whale Done Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Seaside Spray Ink Pad. BEFORE STAMPING, carefully rock the edges ONLY of the whale stamp onto the open Misty Moonlight Ink Pad to get a little darker ink on his edges. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and stamp it on one end of the white strip.
Tip: You can use the brush tip of the fine tip Water Painter to feather out the edges of the dark blue ink a bit if you wish before stamping.
Unlock the Whale Builder Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped whale image into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Use the fine tip of the Misty Moonlight Marker to color in the whale's eyeball.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the whale punch out to the front of the card so he overlaps the two bottom circles a bit.
Slide the skinny strip of Misty Moonlight into the open Whale Builder Punch and get it situated so you'll punch out the spout droplets. Punch.
Adhere the spout droplet punch outs to the card front so they are over the whale's head.
Use the putty tip of the Take Your Pick Tool to pick out 4 Pool Party or Pacific Point sequins of different sizes from the Whale Of A Time Sequins. Use Fine-Tip Glue, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, or Mini Glue Dots to adhere the sequins to the card front as additional bubbles.
