ere is a fun-fold card that is so fun to make for any occasion. This card takes a little time but worth the effort for that extra special recipient.
I've adapted this from Frenchiestamps.
Project Recipe
Cut Paper:
~Cherry Cobbler- 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (need 4). Score at 2 1/8" parallel to long edge.
Mechanism 1"x3", score on each end at 1/2"
~Patterned paper/dsp- First pattern- 4 panels that are each 2" x 5 3/8". Second pattern- 4 panels that are 2" x 5 3/8". Pattern three- 4 1/2" x 5", score in 1/2" from each long side. Pattern four- 4 1/2" x 5" score 1/2" in from each long side.
~Distressed Gold- 4" x 5" (to cut out a frame)
~Soft succulent card stock- 3 1/2" x 4" (make 2).
~Use your bone folder to crease the fold in the middle of the cherry cobbler base pieces.
~On two of the cherry cobbler pieces, use adhesive of choice (seal, multi-purpose liquid glue, etc) and glue the first pattern of dsp onto these panels (four panels of dsp onto two of the cherry cobbler panels).
~Repeat with the second pattern of dsp. You should now have all four panels/base pieces covered with the first two dsp patterns. Only adhere on one side of cardstock.
~Glue the four panels together. The goal for me was to have the same panels opposite each other. Do this by glueing the back of the right side of pattern one to the left back side of one of the pattern two pieces. Then glue the right half of this pattern two to the left side of the second panel with pattern #1. Repeat to adhere all panels making an X if looking from above. The patterns should be opposite one another. Remember to always glue panels together on the back of the cardstock.
~Prepare the "bendy panels" that go on the front and back.
~Choose which pattern you would like to be the front and back. The other pattern will be the sides of the project.
~On one of the pattern paper pieces you can diecut a shape out of it to be the framed cutout portion. Choose whatever shape you'd like. I chose to cut out an oval from the new set. Use the oval with a bunch of little lines framing it.
~Using the largest frame, diecut from gold paper.
~Adhere both bendy pieces.
~First use bone folder to crease the side score lines. Put tear n tape on these panels. They will fold back and be adhere onto project.
~Before adhering, use your bone folder or edge of table to curl this panel back. This is similar to how you curl ribbon with a tool. The goal is to get these panels rounded. See finished project to see what this looks like.
~Lay base of project flat on table with front of it facing up. Adhere the piece with the cutout onto center. Repeat with second panel that doesn't have a cut out, adhere to opposite side/back of base.
~ Next, reinforce scores of the small mechanism piece. Lay onto grid paper horizontally and mark with a pencil where center is of this piece.
~Put adhesive on the end tabs. Fold back and adhere onto center of cutout oval.
~Diecut two ovals from soft succulent using the same die that has the little lines going around the frame. Stamp front sentiment onto oval.
~Put small piece of tear n tape vertically on center of mechanism. Remove liner and adhere oval to just that center area.
~Adhere gold from to front of card where the oval was cutout.
~Adhere the last pattern of dsp to back of project following the same procedure as front. This one won't have an oval cutout, though.
~Use second oval cut out from soft succulent to decorate back as desired.
~Attach this oval only in the center of the oval to allow it to pop out a bit.
~Tie a bow and adhere to card front using a glue dot.
~Place gemstones as desired onto card front.
~Finish any decorating as desired.
