Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Crushed Curry Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 2-5/8" x 3-3/8" from Cajun Craze Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- scrap of Crushed Curry Cardstock at least 2-1/4" wide
- scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock at least 2-1/4" wide
Lightly spray the Crumb Cake rectangle with water. This will help you get a deeper impression when you dry emboss it.
Insert the damp Crumb Cake rectangle into the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder so the lines of planks will run horizontally across the rectangle when it is horizontal. Place the folder with the paper inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
Set the dry embossed cardstock aside to let it dry thoroughly.
Tip: You can use a Heat Tool to speed up drying if you wish.
Mount the cottage on the sea cliff image from the By The Bay Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower left corner of the 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" vanilla rectangle, so it goes off the bottom and left edge just a tiny bit. Clean the stamp with the Simply Shammy and/or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub, but leave it on the block.
Re-ink the cottage on the sea cliff image with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the scrap of vanilla cardstock so you get the cottage.
Mount the "thinking of you" or "thank you" sentiment from the By The Bay Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Crushed Curry Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right corner of the stamped Crumb Cake cottage rectangle.
Adhere the stamped Crumb Cake cottage rectangle to the Cajun Craze rectangle.
Unlock the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped cottage on the scrap cardstock into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Unlock the 2" Circle Punch. Slide the scrap of Crushed Curry Cardstock into the punch. Punch.
Place the stamped cottage circle punch out on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light and Dark Cajun Craze Markers to color in the walls of the house, shed, and small brick wall below the door.
Use the Dark Cajun Craze Marker to color in the door jamb and gutters of the roof.
Use the Dark Daffodil Delight Marker to color in the windows.
Use the Light and Dark Old Olive Markers to color in the grass, bushes, and trees.
Use the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Markers to color in the roofs.
Use the Dark Crumb Cake Marker to color in the door.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess ink.
Adhere the colored cottage circle punch out to the center of the Crushed Curry circle punch out.
If the dry embossed Crumb Cake rectangle is dry, proceed to the next step.
Lay the dry embossed Crumb Cake Cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Use the Paper-Piercing Tool to poke a hole through the cardstock in the lower right corner.
Pick out a small copper, gold, or rose gold brad from the Metallic Brads and insert it in the hole.
Flip the cardstock over and bend the prongs of the brad flat.
Adhere the Crumb Cake Cardstock to the front of the Crushed Curry card.
Adhere the matted Crumb Cake cottage image to the front of the card so it is about 3/4" in from the top and left edges.
Adhere the matted cottage circle punch outs to the front of the card so they cover the stamped Crumb Cake cottage and the circle overlaps the top and left edges of the matted Crumb Cake cottage rectangle.
