A 6"x4" fun card featuring two dogs (one reversed) from the Happy Tails Stamp Set.
Project Recipe
Begin by cutting a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock to measure 8"x6" then with the long side butted up to the top edge of your trimmer, score at 4". Fold in half along the score line and burnish with a bone folder. Put this piece aside until later.
Using the solid kennel stamp from the Happy Tails stamp set, stamp this in Grapefruit Grove within the top right corner of a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5 13/16" x 3 13/16" (so 3/16 of an inch smaller than the card base).
Using the detailed kennel stamp and Tuxedo Memento Ink, stamp over the top of the solid image, lining the tiles with the top edge of the image.
Using the bowl image from the Nine Lives stamp set, stamp this just below the kennel as shown.
Using a drop of Call Me Clover Classic Ink Refill and an Aqua Painter brush, water the ink drop down so you have a much lighter shade then 'wash' the lower section of the Whisper White panel to create the grass, making sure it lines up with the bottom edge of the kennel (be careful when painting round the edges of the stamped images).
Repeat the above using Balmy Blue Classic Ink and 'washing' the upper section of the panel.
Leave this panel to dry - it will roll up a bit while wet but should flatten as it dries. If it doesn't then you may need to use a cool iron on the back.
Using the dog outline stamp from Happy Tails and Tuxedo Memento Ink, carefully stamp the image onto a spare block or a silicon craft mat. This needs a steady hand as the stamp will slip if not held still.
Carefully lift the stamp off the spare block, leaving behind an inked image of the dog in reverse.
Carefully lift the stamp off the spare block, leaving behind an inked image of the dog in reverse.
Using the Dog Builder Punch and Whisper White cardstock, punch out a dog shape.
Using the back side of the punched shape, carefully place the inked block so the image lines up with the shape. Carefully press the block down to stamp the image. Remove the block.
The image will be lighter than necessary and may also be missing in places - use a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to draw over the lines giving a crisper, complete image (use the stamp as a reference).
On another scrap of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the dog outline with Memento ink. On this image, add the 'Dalmation spots' detail stamp, making sure you line this up with your outline.
Using both the Happy Tails and Nine Lives stamp sets, stamp out the decorative elements shown in the photo. The solid heart is stamped using Lovely Lipstick Classic Ink, with the red collar and solid bow images using Lovely Lipstick which has been stamped off once (ie stamped onto a scrap of paper, then onto your cardstock without re-inking to give a lighter shade of the same colour). The blue collar is stamped in Blueberry Bushel Classic Ink.
Colour the reversed dog image and the bone using the Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Combo, and the bowl using the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends Combo. Fussy cut or punch these elements as appropriate.
Making sure your water-washed panel is dry, attach this to the front of your Crushed Curry card base. Using the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends Combo, colour the inside of the kennel opening and the dog bowl.
On a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, stamp the 'Friends Forever' sentiment from the Happy Tails stamp set then ink the edges using a Stampin' Sponge.
Attach the elements to the front of the card as shown, using Stampin' Dimensionals on the two dogs, the heart and the dog bowl (don't forget to cut the top of the bowl along the second line down, so the back of the bowl is removed).
Using a second piece of 5 13/16" x 3 13/16" Whisper White Cardstock and Early Espresso Classic Ink, stamp the 'paw print' image across the two long edges. Attach this to the inside of the card.
Your card is now finished so sit back and admire your work.
