Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 3" square from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock
- 3" square from Shaded Spruce Cardstock
- 3-3/4" square from Whisper White Cardstock
Open the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on your work surface so the top flap (with the logos on it) is resting on the work surface with the logos face down. Rub the open Smoky Slate Ink Pad lightly across the inside of the top flap.
Place the large rectangle of white cardstock inside the inked up folder. Close the folder and press firmly all over it with your hands.
NOTE: You are NOT running it through the Big Shot! You are just using the embossing folder as a stamp.
Remove the white rectangle from the embossing folder. You should have a faint hexagon pattern stamped on the cardstock that looks like chicken wire.
Tip: When you are done making this card, run the insides of the embossing folder under running water to clear off excess ink. Allow to air dry.
Mount the :thanks for your friendship," "Just a note...," or "missing you" sentiment from the Home To Roost Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Shaded Spruce Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the stamped white rectangle.
Adhere the stamped white rectangle to the front of the Cherry Cobbler card.
Pick out the two square framelits from the Layering Squares Framelits that cut out a 2-1/8" square and a 2-5/8" square. Place the Shaded Spruce square on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the square framelits on top so they are centered one inside the other. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Keep the outline square cut out. Throw away the solid square cut out or keep it for use on another project. Keep the square framelits out for use on the next step.
Place the Cherry Cobbler square on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the square framelits on top so they are centered one inside the other. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Keep the outline square cut out. Throw away the solid square cut out or keep it for use on another project.
Lay the square outlines on top of each other at an angle so they interlock with each other.
Put a thin line of either Fine-Tip Glue Pen or Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the back side of the interlocked square outlines. Adhere the interlocked square outlines to the front of the card on the left side.
Mount the rooster image from the Home To Roost Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white square.
Pick out the stitched square framelit from the Stitched Shapes Framelits that cuts out a 2-1/8" square. Place the stamped rooster image on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the stitched square framelit on top so it is centered over the rooster forming a diamond shape. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Place the stamped rooster diamond cut out on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Markers to color in the rooster's comb, wattle, lower wing, and some tail feathers.
Use the Light and Dark Shaded Spruce Markers to color in his neck and back feathers and some tail feathers.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede Markers to color in the rest of his body and some tail feathers.
Use the Light Soft Suede Marker to blend the colors in the tail feathers.
Use the Dark and Light Smoky Slate Markers to color the dirt under his feet.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored rooster diamond cut out to the center of the interlocked outlined squares on the card front.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/4" Double-Stitched Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to lower left side of the rooster diamond cut out.
