Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Real Red Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 3-3/8" x 4-5/8" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 3-1/4" of large red, green, and white plaid design from Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper
- 1" x 3-1/4" of dark wood design from Wood Textures 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
Mount the rooster image from the Home To Roost Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the right side of the white rectangle so it is about 3/8" from the top and about 1/2" from the right edge.
Place the stamped white rectangle on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light and Dark Real Red Markers to color in the rooster's comb, wattle, lower wing, and some tail feathers.
Use the Light and Dark Old Olive Markers to color in his neck and back feathers and some tail feathers.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede Markers to color in the rest of his body and some tail feathers.
Use the Dark Shaded Spruce Marker to add some darker green to his neck feathers and some of the tail feathers.
Use the Dark and Light Crumb Cake Markers to color the dirt under his feet and to blend the colors in the tail feathers.
Mount the "just a note..." sentiment from the Home To Roost Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it under the colored rooster image.
Adhere the strip of plaid Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper to the left side of the stamped white cardstock.
Adhere the strip of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to the left side of the white rectangle so it butts right up against the plaid strip.
Adhere the white/designer paper cardstock to the Old Olive rectangle.
Adhere the matted white/designer paper layers to the center of the front of the Real Red card.
Cut a 4" piece of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon so the ends are angled.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the seam between the two pieces of designer paper. Remove the protective backing and adhere the burlap ribbon to the Tear & Tape strip.
Carefully punch out a leaf sprig element from a sheet of Butterfly Elements.
Use the brush tip of the Light Old Olive Stampin' Blends to color one side of the leaf sprig element.
Adhere the colored leaf sprig element to the burlap ribbon at a slight angle near the center using a Mini Glue Dot.
