Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Gray Granite Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Merry Merlot Cardstock
- 3-3/4" x 5" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-5/8" x 3-3/8" from Merry Merlot Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Gray Granite Cardstock
- scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock at least 3/4" wide
Lightly spray the larger Very Vanilla rectangle with water. This will help you get a deeper impression when you dry emboss it.
Insert the damp, larger Very Vanilla rectangle into the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder so the lines of the pattern will run horizontally across the vertical rectangle. Place the folder with the paper inside directly on your Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
VERY IMPORTANT: You are using only ONE Cutting Pad. If you try to use two, the sandwich will be too thick and you could damage the Big Shot.
Set the dry embossed cardstock aside to let it dry thoroughly.
Tip: You can use a Heat Tool to speed up drying if you wish.
Mount the "know that today a friend..." sentiment from the Part Of My Story Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Gray Granite Ink Pad. BEFORE stamping, use the brush tip of the Merry Merlot Marker to color directly onto the stamp where you find the words "friend" and "you" and the small heart next to the word "you." Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp on the bottom of the smaller vanilla rectangle.
Tip: If you are making multiples of the card, make sure you clean the stamp after each use using the Simply Shammy and/or Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub.
As you are ready to stamp using the Nine Lives Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the cat with a face image from the Nine Lives Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Gray Granite Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the strip of Gray Granite Cardstock.
Unlock the Cat Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped cat image into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Place the cat punch out on top of some scratch paper on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Mount the striped or mottled cat image from the Nine Lives Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Gray Granite Ink Pad. Stamp it inside the previously stamped cat image on the cat punch out.
Tip: I find it easier to line up the patterned (striped or mottled) cat image inside the cat with face image if I stamp the cat with face image first and then punch it out before stamping on the pattern.
Mount the solid yarn ball with string image from the Nine Lives Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Merry Merlot Ink Pad. Stamp onto Grid Paper. Then, WITHOUT re-inking, stamp it on the stamped vanilla rectangle just above the stamped sentiment on the right side so the end of the string almost goes off the right side of the vanilla rectangle. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the solid yarn ball with string image with the Merry Merlot Ink Pad. Stamp onto Grid Paper. Then, WITHOUT re-inking, stamp it on the scrap of vanilla cardstock. Clean the stamp and put it away.
Mount the detailed yarn ball with string image from the Nine Lives Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Merry Merlot Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of one of the previously stamped solid yarn ball with string images. Re-ink the stamp with Merry Merlot Ink and stamp it over the top of the other previously stamped solid yarn ball with string image.
WITHOUT adhering, lay the cat punch out on top of the stamped vanilla rectangle on the left side so the bottom of the cat is even with the bottom of the yarn ball and string image and the cat's tail hangs off the left side of the rectangle.
Mount the solid set of three tiny hearts image from the Nine Lives Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Merry Merlot Ink Pad. Stamp it twice in the upper right corner of the stamped vanilla rectangle remembering to re-ink the stamp each time and move the stamp left or right and up or down a tiny bit the second time.
Mount the outlined set of three tiny hearts image from the Nine Lives Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Merry Merlot Ink Pad. Stamp it once in the upper right corner of the stamped vanilla rectangle so it is slightly off from the previously stamped solid hearts. WITHOUT re-inking, stamp it again slightly off again.
Adhere the stamped vanilla rectangle to the smaller Merry Merlot rectangle.
Adhere the cat punch out to the matted, stamped vanilla rectangle on the left side so the bottom of the cat is even with the bottom of the yarn ball and string image and the cat's tail hangs off the left side of the matted rectangles.
Unlock the 1/2" Circle Punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area, slide the stamped yarn ball image into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the punched out yarn ball on top of the yarn ball on the stamped and matted vanilla rectangle.
If the dry embossed vanilla rectangle is dry, adhere it to the larger Merry Merlot rectangle and then to the front of the Gray Granite card.
Adhere the stamped and matted vanilla rectangle with punch outs attached to the front of the card so it is centered side to side and slightly closer to the top.
