T he Pop & Twist card with a major WOW factor when the card is opened and the decoration panel pops up and twists. Looks hard, but really isn't 3 main sections, and that is it!
Project Recipe
This card can be made in any size, but my instructions are for a standard A2 4.25" x 5 1/2" card.
You have 3 sections to this card:
1.) Card Base - 4.25 " x 11" score at 5 1/2" top fold
2.) Decoration panel - 10 3/4" x 3 1/2" score in from the right and left sides 2 5/8" and in the center 5 3/8". If you don't like to measure fold in half on the long side with a mountain fold, then fold each side to the center valley folds.
3.) Pop & Twist Mechanism 8" x 3 1/2". Several steps to this part so full directions will be next instruction.
Again the mechanism is 8" x 3 1/2" start on the 8" side and make a pencil mark along the top at 2 1/4", score down the center at 4" and then another pencil mark at 5 3/4", then rotate 180 deg. and again make the pencil marks at 2 1/4" and 5 3/4".
Now rotate so the 3 1/2" side is on top and score down the middle, which is 1 3/4".
Turn 8" side on top and connect the pencil marks with score lines making an X in the center. You now have score lines down the middle vertical and horizontal, and the 2 score lines in the middle making an X. Erase the pencil lines now.
Fold all score lines well. Place finger and thumbs on the 4 corners folding the top and bottom right together and the top and bottom left together, the horizontal fold should be mountain at this point and when you push the top & bottom together and in it will rotate and now be the vertical sections or the "legs". This will make the top and bottom of the X in the center valley folds and will turn into a triangle and the whole thing will look like a house, well kind of.
Use strong double sided tape, or if you have time to let liquid glue dry, that will work as well. I used tape.
The triangle section will not show so mark one side A and the other B and place tape around the outside edges of the triangle on both sides.
On the bottom of the leg section you apply tape on the A side on the right leg ONLY. On the B side tape goes on the left side ONLY. Place the tape across the leg with enough rows of tape to measure 1" up from the bottom.
Next you decorate the 4 panel section. If you want to use pattern paper like the Christmas example you need 4 pieces 3 1/4" x 2 3/8" then greeting or die cut of your choice. The Scare Up A Little Fun example does not have pattern paper, just die cuts and greeting.
Now it is time to attach the panel to the mechanism. The top of the folded up panel will be to the right and the center fold to the bottom. Folded panel will be over the right leg of the mechanism and under the left and 3/4" down from the bottom of the triangle/top section. Remove the tape on the legs one side at a time.
Almost done now. Time to attach panel & mechanism to the card base.
With side A face up and card opened, place the top of the triangle 1/8" below the fold of the card and centered across, now remove the tape backing and close the card making sure the tape is attached well.
Turn card over, open and repeat above steps for side be and again close the card and make sure tape is attached well.
You just made a Pop & Twist card!!
